1963 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso
As one of the most achingly beautiful road-going Ferraris to leave Maranello, the 250 GT/L “Lusso” is an icon of the highest order, a masterpiece of Pininfarina design. At its heart lies a 3.0L variant of the race-derived V12 Colombo engine, having been masterfully parlayed into road use after proving its mettle powering 250-series Ferraris to complete dominance in the World Sportscar Constructors Championship, among others. With 351 examples produced, it is no surprise that the 250 GT Lusso is one of the most desirable and sought after Enzo-era Ferraris today. In superlative, Platino-winning condition, numbers matching, and backed by over 40 years of consistent documentation, 5163GT is an exceptional example of the breed.
Delivered new to the United States through Luigi Chinetti’s Chinetti Motors, 5163GT would lead an easy life, finding its way out to sunny Southern California during very early ownership. In the mid 1980’s, 5163GT was restored to exacting standards, wearing Rosso Corsa. In the ensuing years, 5163GT was used sparingly, and cared for regularly, ensuring the highest standards of operation.
In the mid-2010’s 5163GT was acquired by its previous owner, who, after enjoying the car for a few years, undertook a second restoration spanning close to three years, which would prove to be as authentic as it was painstaking. Those efforts were rewarded with a highly coveted (and extremely difficult to achieve) Platino award at the Cavallino Classic in 2017. These efforts were further rewarded when Ferrari SpA exhibited 5163GT at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance as part of its 70th Anniversary celebration display, cementing its status as one of the finest Lussos extant.Today, 5163GT remains in stellar, turn-key condition, driving as beautifully as it looks. Available with tools, documentation, and awards, 5163GT stands above the rest - from its resplendent looks, to its legendary driving experience, 5163GT is where profound beauty perfectly intersects with race-bred DNA.
