Overview
Born in the crucible of Group B, the Ford RS200 remains one of motorsport’s most audacious creations, a purpose-built, four-wheel-drive weapon engineered from the ground up to challenge the giants of rallying’s most ferocious era. Among the 200 examples built, chassis 061 stands apart as one of the most decorated and hard-fought cars to emerge from Boreham’s hallowed workshops.
Originally registered C200 JJN and completed in January 1986, #061 is a true ex-Works car, constructed as a left-hand-drive rally chassis by Ford Motorsport Boreham. For the 1986 season, Mike Taylor Developments Ltd. ran the car on behalf of Ford Holland and #061 competed wearing the traditional Ford blue-and-white works livery and a one-off scarlet-and-white Team Belga livery, reflecting its versatility and identity as a championship-winning machine. In the hands of Stig Andervang, #061 became instantly recognizable and synonymous with speed and precision.
That season proved extraordinary. Competing across Europe in both the Dutch Open Rally Championship and the West Euro Cup, #061 delivered outright championship victories in both series with five 1st Place Overall finishes and two 2nd Place finishes during the course of the 1986 rally season - no RS200 covered more ground or achieved more results than #061.
Beyond its remarkable competition record, the car’s mechanical heart remains formidable. Today, #061 is powered by a genuine Ford Motorsport EVO 2.1-liter BDT, an evolution engine delivering 760 bhp on low boost, paired with its original chassis plate and stamped number. It stands as one of the very few RS200s retaining direct works lineage, original identity, and period-correct specification, a combination that defines true provenance in rally history.
From its incredible 1986 season providing two championship-winning campaigns, #061 is not merely a survivor of rallying’s most dangerous decade; it is one of its victors. It embodies the audacity of Ford’s Group B ambition and the enduring spirit of those who dared to tame it.
